A little bit about me and Rotary

Então pessoal, pra quem não sabe, meu nome é Monise Stulzer Lopes, sou Brasileira nascida em Curitiba – Paraná. Tenho 17 anos, e uma paixão pelo mundo que mal cabe dentro de mim. Minha primeira intenção com esse blog foi compartilhar minha experiência de intercâmbio, mas após refletir um bocado neste assunto, pensei que valeria a pena compartilhar coisas do Brasil também, para que os meus futuros amigos e família lá de fora possam conhecer um pouco mais sobre mim e onde vivo.

Hoje quero familiarizá-los com a organização que está proporcionando-me a realização deste sonho: o Rotary Club de Rio Negro (juntamente com o distrito 4730 e o Rotary International)

Rio Negro é a cidade que morei durante 14 anos, possui apenas 36 000 habitantes, mas muitas pessoas que estarão para sempre no meu coração. Conheci o Rotary através da minha amiga Gabriela Kubis, e nesse domingo fará dois anos que participo de atividades rotarianas.

Durante minha primeira reunião, confesso que não compreendi o propósito do Rotary. Porém após alguns encontros, pude perceber que mais do que ajudar instituições necessitadas, pessoas carentes, combater à pólio, dentre outros, o Rotary significa companheirismo, amizade e confiança. Significa que, dentro da possibilidade de cada um, esforços não serão medidos para ajudar tanto ao próximo quanto uns aos outros.

Quando um novo companheiro toma posse, o presidente do clube fala que no momento em que ele entrou no Rotary, ganhou mais de um milhão de companheiros. É isso que admiro, e isso que me faz querer ser rotariana: a boa vontade, o companheirismo, saber que em nenhum lugar do mundo estarei sozinha, pois sempre haverá um rotariano disposto a ajudar.

So guys, for those who doesn’t know me, my name is Monise Stulzer Lopes, I’m Brazilian, I was born in Curitiba – Paraná. I’m seventeen years old, and I have such a big passion about the world that I don’t have enough space inside of me anymore.

My first intention with this blog was to share my exchange experience, but I thought better about it and I realized that would be worth to share things about Brazil too, so my future friends and family abroad could know a little bit more about me and the place where I live.

Today I want to introduce you to the organization that is making a lot to realize my dream: Rio Negro’s Rotary Club (within the Rotary International and 4730’s district)

Rio Negro is the city where I have lived for fourteen years, it has just 36 000 inhabitants, but a lot of people that will always be in my heart. I heard about Rotary from a friend, Gabriela Kubis, and its been two years since I started going to meetings, now I feel like I am finally part of it.

During my first meeting, I confess that I didn’t realize the purpose of Rotary. Although, after some meetings I could realize that more than helping needed institutions and people, and fighting against polio, Rotary means fellowship, friendship and confidence. It means that, inside of everybody’s possibility, efforts will be done to help both the next and each other.

When a new person comes into Rotary, the Club’s president says that in the same moment that he entered into the club, he got more than a million fellows. This is what I admire, this is what makes me wanted to be a Rotarian: the goodwill, the fellowship, to know I won’t be alone anywhere in this world, because it’ll always be a Rotarian willing to help.
